If you want to install any of these, the process is exactly the same until point 8. The Installation order for The Sims 2 can be found here. These are very easy to find via Google, and need to be for the last installed pack for your game.ġ2.

I am using a No CD patch for mine, as my disk drive is really noisy. The base game is now fully installed and will work. If you get a pop up message - you want to click Replace the files in the Destination, and do that for all items.ġ1. Then go to the drive you installed The Sims 2 on, in my case F Drive - F:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 and paste. Open the TS2_Update folder and copy everything in it.

It’s worth updating this way as you don’t need to worry about Windows 8 compatibility mode, or having to put in the previous CD etc.
Next we have to make sure the game updates correctly or it’s not playable. If you have more expansions/stuff packs to install, keep the Disk Images folder on your C Drive for now, just empty it ready for the next pack.ĩ. You can save the Disk Image so you don’t have to re-copy it in case you need to reinstall - Just move it to a different location and rename it. If you have named the folders correctly, it will automatically load CD2, CD3 etc.Ĩ. Important - Click Advanced User and make sure you pick the drive you want to install to, and that it is in the Program Files and not Program Files (x86) folder. Once all your disks are copied, open the disk1 folder and let’s start installing! You need to double click the Autorun.exeħ. CD 2 is copied into the disk2 folder, CD 3 into the disk3 folder etc.Ħ. I have 4 CD’s in my box to copy over and it should look like this. Once it’s copied we repeat this until all the CD’s are on your hard drive. This will copy everything from The Sims 2 CD 1 into the disk1 folder. Open the other window that had our disk1 folder in it and click into the disk1 folder and paste. Highlight all the files (either by dragging your mouse over all of them, or ctrl + a) and copy them.Ĥ. Now pop your The Sims 2 CD 1 into the drive and open a second window to explore it. Inside the newly created Disk Images folder create a new folder and call it disk1.ģ. To start with open your C Drive and create a new folder called Disk Images.Ģ. You can install it from here to any other drive. The files used to actually install the game need to be copied onto your C Drive. This is explained at the end of the guide.ġ. You can run The Sims 2 in a window even with Windows 8 or 8.1.If you do have ones you would like to keep, move the saved games somewhere safe! This guide assumes you want a completely fresh install and have no saved games etc.I have only tried to install this using the CD’s - not sure if it works with Origin downloads or not.Please name any created folders exactly as I have done, I learnt the long way that it has to be exact.For example C:\Program Files and not C:\Program Files (x86). It needs to be in the Program Files Folder and not Program Files (x86). It looks like a lot to do but once you’ve done it for one disk it’s really pretty easy. To actually see the images - right click them and view image, Tumblr won’t show them at a readable size on the dashboard due to this being a text post >.< I used these really easy, helpful Youtube video's (3 parts) to help me and am just writing this out to help. I have seen a few folks struggling to install The Sims 2 on Windows 8 or 8.1 and figured I’d write out how I finally got it working in case it helped someone.
